Roosevelt Campus Series LAN '24 | Full Event Recap

Roosevelt Campus Series LAN '24 | Full Event Recap

The heart of Chicago was the scene once again for the annual Roosevelt Campus Series LAN hosted by Stay Plugged In. Roosevelt University, home of Lakers Esports welcomed students and their parents from multiple states to come visit their campus and connect with college esports recruiters.

High school student athletes in VALORANT, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate™ were focused on another objective as well. To compete in front of college esports scouts, and secure a piece of the $900 prize pool.

Join us in recapping all of the action across the three titles, in this Chi-Town edition of the BearLight Breakdown.

VALORANT

VALORANT RECAP

Would you say the talent level was high if I told you that three Stay Plugged In Coca-Cola All-Stars were in the same bracket? What if it was three All-Stars?

Leone and avien of SPIRE Academy, and domi of Pookie Bears were present and accounted for when Championship Sunday took off. SPIRE Academy would make their way to the Finals, but standing in their way of the title was Team 4, a free agent roster with long-time successful player "nowaymask".

Team 4 got the job done against SPIRE on Saturday with a large comeback effort. After a 13-6 map 1 win at Sunset off the back of a Leone masterclass (20/9/11 KDA), a comeback was in the cards again for Team 4. A 13-11 win at Split, followed by a 13-5 winning performance at Ascent would secure them the Roosevelt Campus Series LAN VALORANT title. Congratulations!

ROCKET LEAGUE

ROCKET LEAGUE RECAP

The dual headed monster of B-hall Bandits and Lotus 8 Academy marched their way into Championship Sunday as the #1 and #2 seeds respectively. As expected, we saw another clash of the two in the Grand Finals.

Cloud1fy had a great weekend, as did the rest of the Lotus 8 Academy squad, but they came up just a bit short. Scytos, Bobevan, and Luap were able to hold off the push to win the series, and become your 2024 Roosevelt Campus Series LAN Champions for Rocket League. Congratulations!

SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE™

SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE™ RECAP

Despite a deep and incredibly talented pool of participating players, a true top 2 in the Smash bracket emerged on Sunday. Only one game loss was tallied between both shopme and fed(us) before the two met in the Winners Final. Even after, when fed(us) fell to the Lowers Final from that match, it was a perfect 3-0 match win to return for a rematch in the Grand Finals.

The top two was simply one of the best showdowns we've ever seen in a Stay Plugged In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate™ recruiting event. Every match between them went the distance. As mentioned above, the Winners Final went to shopme, however fed(us) answered back with a Grand Finals first-set victory to force a bracket reset.

Due to the topside appearance in the Grand Final from shopme, he would have a second life to work with. The battle went to five, and despite every effort from shopme to stop it, it was fed(us) that would walk away as Champion of the Roosevelt Campus Series LAN for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate™. Congratulations!

SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE™ WINNERS
