How our All-Stars are Selected

Each player’s nomination and supporting nominations (votes) will be assigned a point value based on the following four categories: Gameplay, Sportsmanship, Intangibles, and Additional Votes.

All-Stars will be chosen by a Selection Committee consisting of leading industry figures and representatives of Coca-Cola Consolidated. The Committee is looking for the next college player - selection will focus on technical skills, contributions to the community and team orientation.

“Having a Stay Plugged In Coca-Cola All-Star on one of my rosters would be an amazing opportunity,” Dr. John Price, Esports Manager for The Ohio State University shared. “An All-Star inherently is somebody that is driven and has a passion for this activity that extends beyond competition itself and looks and understands how important esports is to the greater community around a program and what it can do for a campus.”

What is an All-Star?

We asked our selection committee members to define what an “All-Star” means to them.

“When I hear the term All-Star, I think of somebody that not only excels in the sense of the game itself, but is well-rounded,” John Price shared. “Exhibits characteristics that go beyond the game – things such as good communication skills, a sense of drive or passion for the larger activity which is demonstrated through initiatives they’ve taken.”

Student competitor-turned-Esports Director, Sergio Brack, shared his thoughts:

“The qualities I’ll be looking for in an All-Star this year are primarily intangibles. I think a lot of times when we think of what an All-Star is in esports, we immediately go to the in-game skill,” he said. “But for me, a lot of the things that I look for when it comes to players, come from leadership qualities, the ability to adapt, the flexibility to be able to adapt in mental situations as well as in-game situations.”
