Adopting a Winning Mindset for Valorant

Adopting a Winning Mindset for Valorant

Introduction

Valorant is an esport title that has been around for a relatively short amount of time. While its foundation is built off of the tried and true round based format from FPS games like Counter Strike, it does present some new concepts and ideas in the form of champions and abilities that fundamentally change the way players interact with the game. There are many different ways to play this game, but if you want to start immediately improving we suggest taking a look at some of our fundamental concepts here below…

Practice, practice, practice more

  • Practice, practice, practice more.

  • Improve your aim through frequent time spent in the range or aim trainers like, KovaaK's.

  • Learn how to use your skills and abilities effectively by practicing them in a game environment. This can also be reinforced by watching videos of pro players or watching educational content from content creators online.

  • Watch replays of matches where you played well and try to identify what made those plays successful for you so that you can replicate them again in future games. We suggest utilizing a platform like Augment Technologies to drive faster and more meaningful insights for your team and players.

Avoid the "gaming" mindset

While Valorant is first and foremost a game, it’s important to have a growth oriented mindset if high level competition is a goal of yours. While losing is inevitably part of the equation and journey as a player - It's more important to focus on learning and improving your own skills. Don't worry about top fragging or winning individual matches by any means necessary if it means developing poor habits. This can be an extremely difficult trend to try and prevent, but work with your coach if you have one available to understand your weaknesses and strengths and play into those strengths.  All that matters is developing healthy habits both in and out of the server and setting yourself on a positive growth trajectory as an individual player and teammate.

Collaborate, don’t compete with teammates

  • Don't be a jerk.

  • Don't be a troll.

  • Don't be a leech, or someone who just wants to hang around and get their name out there as much as possible through their antics rather than their gameplay.

  • Be kind and considerate of others' feelings, even when disagreements do arise. Remember that the goal is not necessarily winning arguments but rather creating an environment full of mutual respect and understanding between teammates who are working together towards common goals (which we all want!).

Focus on one agent archetype at a time

Focus on one agent archetype at a time. While this concept might be controversial for some, we suggest picking an agent type and learning the ins and outs of the playstyle. This will not only provide a baseline level of confidence heading into each game and give you a strong identity in the server, but it will also help you better understand that particular role and its impact on the game, even from the competitors side.

Learn from every loss

One of the most important things you can do when playing Valorant is not get disheartened by losses. If you're positive about your chances, and even if you lose a few rounds here and there, it's still possible to win the game. Try and set out particular goals that you aim to tackle instead of simply winning more... This shifts your perspective towards a growth mindset even in the event of a "loss".

However, if you let yourself get down over every loss then it will be hard for anything good to come out of it in the long run. Don't let one bad performance discourage or upset your confidence level! Instead think about what went wrong in each game (e.g., maybe I shouldn't have ego peeked as much) and try again with new tactics next time—or even better yet find someone else who has played this map before so they can give advice on how best approach certain strats.

If you want to get better at Valorant, put in the work.

If you want to get better at Valorant, put in the work.

Valorant is a game that rewards players who are willing to put in the time and effort. The best way to improve your performance as a Valorant is by practicing regularly and training with an intention in mind, which can be difficult when you're just starting out.

The next tips are all about avoiding or competitive while playing this game:

  • Don't focus on winning every single round—this mindset can lead straight into being frustrated with losing streaks or even quitting altogether! Instead of thinking about how many wins/losses per hour or day etc., try focusing on improving yourself as an individual player rather than competing against other people around town."

Conclusion

If you're looking to improve your gameplay in Valorant, then put in the work! There are many different ways to improve your gaming and it takes time before you see results. But with patience and dedication, we believe anyone can become better at Valorant.
